Celebrate Freedom!

Celebrate Freedom is a Christian 12 step recovery support group here at Round Grove.  We use workbooks from the "Celebrate Recovery" Program which originated at Rick Warren's Saddleback Church.

This recovery support group is
NOT just for those who have struggled with substance abuse.  (12 step groups aren't just for alcoholics and addicts anymore!!!)  Some of the other life controlling issues that would benefit from the 12 step Celebrate Recovery material we use are: overworking, overeating, insecurity, perfectionism, hurtful relationships, procrastination, hypochondria, the need to control, codependency, overspending, lying, grief, anger/rage, fear/anxiety, divorce, abuse, sexual addiction, being critical/negativatity, etc.  (Whatever that keeps you from experiencing the peace, joy and serenity that our precious Lord provides for us when we humble ourselves and give "it" to Him!)

What an AWESOME God we serve!  The first group has been together since the beginning of December and God has worked in wonderful and beautiful ways in the lives of each participant.  We are seeing lives changed as we grow in the knowledge of our precious Savior.  We still have quite a few weeks left in the current study materials and I feel confident that when we reach the end, we will have experienced God's love, mercy, grace and healing in ways we've never experienced before and never imagined possible.

I am pleased to tell you of at least two new Celebrate Freedom groups which are in the planning stage.  We hope to begin shortly after Easter.

One group will be meeting during the Sunday School hour here at Round Grove.  The other will be meeting in Golden City.  Tentative plans for this one are Monday afternoons.  Be watching for more information soon.
Please remember these new groups in your prayers and please prayerfully consider whether or not this is a resource from which you could benefit.

For information on Celebrate Freedom, please call the church office at 417-452-3670 and leave a message for Cyndie.  You may also e-mail a message to roundgrove@millertel.net with a directive to Cyndie or Celebrate Freedom on the subject line.  I will get back to you as quickly as possible.

Thank you for all the prayer support so far, and please continue to pray for us.

Below is a wonderful overview of the material we use

What Rick Warren says about "Celebrate Recovery":

".....I believe that this program is unlike any recovery program you may have seen.  There are seven features that make it unique.
1. Celebrate Recovery is based on God's Word, the Bible.  When Jesus taught the Sermon on the Mount, He began by stating eight ways to be happy.  Today we call them the Beatitudes.  From a conventional viewpoint, most of these statements don't make sense.  They sound like contradictions.  But when you fully understand what Jesus is saying, you'll realize that these eight principles are God's road to recovery, wholeness, growth, and spiritual maturity.

Celebrate Recovery is forward-looking.  Rather than wallowing in the past or dredging up and rehearsing painful memories over and over, Celebrate Recovery focuses on the future.  Regardless of what has already happened, the solution is to start making wise choices now and depend on Christ's power to make those changes.

3. Celebrate Recovery emphasizes personal responsibility.  Instead of playing the "accuse and excuse" game of victimization, this program helps people face up to their own poor choices and deal with what they can do something about.  We cannot control all that happens to us, but we can control how we respond to everything.  That is a secret of happiness.  When we stop wasting time fixing the blame, we have more energy to fix the problem.  When we stop hiding our own faults and stop hurling accusations at others, then the healing power of Christ can begin working in our mind, will, and emotions.
