| How Do I Become a Christian? A question which is asked continually is "how do I become a Christian?" People want to know how to know that everything is okay between them and God. Many say, "so many have a different idea of how to become a Christian, how do I know the correct answer?" People always want to know, "how do I get to heaven?" "I must be a Christian to get to heaven, right?" Yes, this is right and the Bible teaches that salvation is a gift! A gift which cannot be earned by anyone by any method. Since this is so, we know without much thought that someone had to earn the right to give us this gift. And "Someone" did. His name is Jesus! The scripture says: "Unless blood is shed, there is no forgiveness of sins." That's the reason Jesus died on the cross. He died for the sins of the world. By His death, burial and resurrection, Jesus paid for everyone's sins. So, since Jesus has accomplished for everyone the right to become a Christian, that means the responsibility of receiving this gift is up to you. And this is how the process happens: First, we must ADMIT that we are sinners. As the scripture states, "all have sinned and have been found lacking of God's glory." Everyone has sinned. Second, we must BELIEVE Jesus died for our sin, was buried and rose again so our sins could be forgiven. This belief is the kind which trusts in, clings to and relies on Jesus for eternal life. The last step of salvation is CONFESSION. Confess that you have sinned. Confess that you believe Jesus died for your sins, and now lives to give you eternal life. Confess that you now receive Him as your Savior. That's IT! As we see the method of becoming a Christian is made easy for everyone. Adults and children become Christians in the same manner. So accept Jesus into your life if you haven't! After receiving Jesus, it is up to every person to "grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ." Growing in understanding of that gift means consistent study of God's Word. You will find listed below some passages to confirm what you have just read.
